Final assignment-Lamp

So, this are a group assignment for our last final project. We need to design n compose an artwork using only black and white. Beside color, we also need to compose the artwork using only natural objects.  There got many choices of objects for us to make our final project. After discussion, we decided to do a lamp.

This are some of the sample of natural material lamps

Final project - lamp

We use paper cutting method to cut out the 4 season to straight forward relate with natural. 4 season including all the natural. Leaves , plant, wood , etc. From the lamp, we arranged accordingly with the changing season. Spring, summer, autumn, winter. Gt 8 surfaces on the lamp. So we do per season equal two column.  we never stick it of the head and the bottom part to able rotate the lamp. So u can c the season changing by only moving hand.  alk about color, we spray gold at the bottom and black at the head of the lamp to make it 2 tones. So tht can be more contrast.

Silhouette drawing

silhouette is the image of a person, an object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single color, usually black, its edges matching the outline of the subject. The interior of a silhouette is basically featureless, and the whole is typically presented on a light background, usually white, or none at all. The silhouette differs from an outline which depicts the edge of an object in a linear form, while a silhouette appears as a solid shape. Silhouette images may be created in any visual artistic media.

Actually i got watched some of the silhouette drawing video and it was so quite interesting! They don't speak from start at the end, just add on with the background song and all were so meaningful. But we are not doing movement silhouette so we stop talking about this. :P

ooohh, here are the some of silhouette drawing examples,

 My silhouette drawing,

 *Tis the connotation figure.
this story type is about magic and mystery. Do you c tht witch? So u can knw tht i'm drawing a fantasy world.
Actually , every human have their own secret . Some of the secrets u could be tell with others but some secrets we can't. We should have some of self privacy also. We always put our secret deeply in our heart where some place that people can't see through. So from the drawing we can c that gt a girl goes out from the house and carrying with a big bag. Big bag is equal to our secret. Where we going, we always carrying. The girl keep walking walking n walking. She goes through the city, across the jungle,
and she reaches a jetty. There got a yacht name called leaving. Leaving from the town , leaving from the crowded, leaving from the people, leaving to somewhere else who can't c and can't find you.

She ride the yacht and go to an island.

After she reaches , she climbs to the peak of mountain. After tht u can c tht a wing is spreading out from the big bag and she turn into a fairy tales! By that time, that's is the island with no somebody else.Nobody will mention it. Same as the reality world, u will find somewhere else to express ur own secrets with nobody knw.Maybe write in down in a dairy to express ur emotion.
Just take an example of tis silhouette drawing, maybe u r a millionaire but not dare to let ppl knw. So juz like tht upon picture. Ur outfit let people feel like you are poor, but actually u gt lot of property.  Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Batik

Batik is both an art and a craft, which is becoming more popular and well known in the West as a wonderfully creative medium. The art of decorating cloth in this way, using wax and dye, has been practised for centuries. To make a batik, selected areas of the cloth are blocked out by brushing or drawing hot wax over them, and the cloth is then dyed. The parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original colour. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated to create more elaborate and colourful designs. After the final dyeing the wax is removed and the cloth is ready for wearing or showing.
These are the batik tht showing by model.

this is the processing of batik. -coloring

The mermaid is the main focal point of the design due to its position in the centre of the composition. The design of a mermaid was inspired by “The Little Mermaid”, a popular fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince. This story has touched the creator for a long time. She deeply believes that if you really want something in life, whether to be with someone you love or to become a successful designer, you will be willing to sacrifice and go through hardships to achieve it.

Mermaids are thought to be very feminine, elegant and gentle creatures, therefore, flowers were used to represent those traits. Many cultures around the world have a marked tendency to associate flowers with femininity. Femininity is also further shown through the use of the color pink to color the flowers. Pink represents softness, warmth and sweetness, traits that are more associated with females. Land flowers is used instead of sea flowers to represents the mermaid’s desire to become a human being.
Mermaids are also symbolic of letting our intuition overrule our logical thinking. Mermaids are magical, mystical creatures that do not exist in the real world. Mermaids were created from imagination and creativity by allowing the mind to wander away from what’s logical or not. In reality, a hybrid of a human and fish would be illogical and impossible, but not in our imaginations.
The main colors visible in the artwork is purple. Purple is a color very representative of the creator’s personality. The color purple shows sensitivity and  compassion. The creator thinks of herself as a person who is sensitive and compassionate towards others and is always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever that needs it. Purple also symbolizes magic and mystery and is therefore easily associated with mermaids. The blue color in the artwork also symbolizes water and calmness. The green seaweed that surrounds the mermaid is used to symbolize nature and show that we should live in harmony with nature and the color orange is used to represent harmony and hope.

Tessellation

Actually at the first time doing this tessellation assignment , i was in the ignorant of condition. I was mess up all in this topic, from my point of view, that's all the same.. i can't differentiate what is the difference between this two different title tessellation. So, I just can say that I can't really deeply understand what is the tessellation about. But after i did lot of researches and got more of information ( actually this took lot of times), i just clearly knw what is the tessellation about and i only can started worked on it ! ( finally ) haha.. Actually no gaps quite confused me sometimes, caz it must be match together without spacing. But at last i did it also :)

So what is tessellation?
A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps.

Here's some of the sample of tessellation.

guide me how to make a tessellation. This really work it out!:)

So here are my tessellation projects,

Figure ground-Type face
Alphabet Y

Closure- faces

Proximity- Fruit
Oranges

Similarity-cold
ice cubes
That's is the reason that i choose light blue to color it. Light blue which is represent with cold.

 Continuity-dance
Did see you ladies dance? :)
i try to use the color with opposite tone( pink and green). To make it more contrast. Because this two colors were seldom mix together but i were daring to try it here.

Alignment- buffalos
I used blue, red and yellow which is the primary color to able make it more contrast.
